Palmerton Area Library cozy andcomfortable

Now that the weather has turned cooler the public is invited to spend some time enjoying what the Palmerton Area Library has to offer upstairs in The Strohl In. The cozy comfortable reading area and coffee bar is located on the mezzanine in the library's main room. It was dedicated to long time library employee, Dorothy Strohl at the time of her retirement in March.

The Strohl In features comfortable chairs, a loveseat, side tables and a coffee machine. There is an area set up for patrons who wish to use their own laptops with a power source and free wi-fi. In this area the library also makes available over 50 magazines and newspapers including the Morning Call, the TIMES NEWS and The Wall Street Journal.The library has a complete collection of National Geographic magazines from 1920 through the current issue. The magazines available include parents' magazines, current events, popular culture, finance, outdoor interests, crafts, and health. Back issues are available for check out.The Strohl In is open during regular library hours: Monday and Tuesday-10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday-10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday-9 a.m. to 4 p.m.The Palmerton Area Library will also be holding numerous events over the next few months.Stop in and pick up a list of items for "The Hunt" which is a scavenger hunt for all ages sponsored by the Teen Group at the library. Look for the items on the list before or during Trick-or-treating and bring your items back to the library by Nov. 10 to claim your prize. Here's a sneak preview; the first item on the list is to find the name of the painted mule sitting in the center of Palmerton next to the police station.The library's annual Handcrafted Items Auction will begin on Nov. 5 with the drawing on Friday Dec. 7. The library is currently collecting items for the auction. All items must be new and handcrafted. Please bring your donations to the library by Nov. 2.New tote bags will be available at the library right after Thanksgiving. When you purchase a new tote bag with the library logo on it you can then fill the tote bags with items from the library basement booksale one time for free.For more information about events at the library please check out the library website at
