Fillies clinch division title; Lady Tigers perfect

Marian clinched its third straight Schuylkill League Division 4 title with a volleyball sweep of Weatherly and the Northwestern girls cross country team finished the regular season with a perfect 26-0 record for the second straight year.


Palmerton-Bangor-No. Dame ES-Pen Argyl-Salisbury-Saucon Vy.-No. Lehigh

Northern Lehigh boys and girls picked up three wins apiece in a seven team Colonial League meet at Northern Lehigh. Palmerton also picked up two wins by the boys and girls.

Wade White of Bangor won the boys race with a time of 17:08. The top finishing boy for Northern Lehigh was Matt Pender, who was ninth overall with a time of 18:24. Sean Seiler was the top runner from Palmerton finishing 11th overall with a time of 18:49. Gavin Kemery of Northern Lehigh was 14th and Zach Svetik of Palmerton was 15th.

Elizabeth Chikotas won the girls race with a time of 19:01. The top runner from Northern Lehigh was Rachel Hendrix with a time of 22:54. The top runner from Palmerton was Jaclyn Wood with a time of 23:17.

Ethan Bernstein won the 3K dash with a time of 10:59. The top runner from Palmerton was Kody Kolnik with a time of 11:51. The top runner from Northern Lehigh was Everette Bevans with a time of 12:35.

Wilson-Palisades-So. Lehigh

Northwestern boys and girls scored three victories apiece in a seven-team Colonial League meet.

In the boys meet, Tyler Stelmack of Northwestern finished second with a time of 15:42, just 11 seconds behind the winner, Jaryd Flank. Ryan Cerrone, Jarett White, Thomas Duffy, Patrick Strobel and Brayden Heller all placed in the top 14 to help Northwestern secure the victories for the boys.

In the girls meet, Haley Yost and Rachel Cerrone of Northestern finished first and second respectively.

Lehighton-PM West

Pocono Mountain West defeated Lehighton, 4-0 in MVC action.

Kayla Troutman made 20 saves for Lehighton.

PM East-Pleasant Vy.

Pocono Mountain East defeated Pleasant Valley, 1-0, in MVC action.

Alyssa Simeone had the lone goal for Pocono Mountain East, scoring in the second half. Hailey Parks had three saves for Pleasant Valley and Janelle Pastrana added four more.

With the loss, Pleasant Valley falls to 12-5 overall and 9-2 in the MVC.

Williams Vy.-Jim Thorpe

Jim Thorpe defeated Williams Valley 3-2 in Schuylkill League play for its second straight victory.

Kimmee Conway scored the first goal of the game for the Olympians and Cat Condly added two more. The Olympians also got an outstanding effort from goalkeeper Alyssa Smith, who had eight saves to preserve the win.


PM West-Lehighton

Pocono Mountain West earned a 3-0 victory over Lehighton in MVC action.

Cody Galica had a hat trick for Pocono Mountain West.

With the loss, Lehighton falls to 6-10 overall and 3-9 in MVC play.


PM West-Lehighton

Lehighton defeated PM West in MVC action, 10-1.

Sarah Keer had a hat trick for Lehighton in the dominant victory. Sage Terembulen also added two goals. Lehighton had 26 shots on goals to PM West's two.

With the win, Lehighton moves to 9-9 overall on the season and 8-4 in MVC play.

Palmerton-Pen Argyl

Pen Argyl edged Palmerton 3-2 in a Colonial League match-up.

The Green Knights came back from a 2-0 deficit to capture the win.

Lacey Hempeler scored two goals and Nicole Kocher added a goal for PA.

Mikayla Krupa and Morgan Mummey had goals for the Bombers.


Bangor defeated Northwestern, 3-0 in Colonial League action.

Emily Boyle had two goals for Bangor, scoring both in the second half to secure the win. Kiley Kuchar scored the other goal for Bangor in the first half.



Marian used outstanding balance and dominant serving to sweep Weatherly, 25-6, 25-11, 25-14, in a Schuylkill League match.

With the victory, the Fillies (11-0) clinched the Schuylkill League Division 4 title for the third straight year.

Marian had 35 aces in the match with eight different players contributing at least one. Nikki Collevechio led the way with eight aces, Emily Pilla had seven, Marykate Sherkness and Abby O'Donnell had five each, and Sophie Myers added four. At the net, Grace Boyle had seven kills and Sherkness added five as eight different Marian players picked up kills in the match. O'Donnell had 18 assists.

For Weatherly (0-11, 0-17), Karlee Hinkle had two kills and four digs. Krissa Titus had seven digs.

PM West-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley defeated Pocono Mountain West 25-3, 25-9, 25-5 to remain undefeated in MVC play.

Steph Schmitt led Pleasant Valley (21-4, 9-0) in assists with 14 while also adding five aces. Courtney Miller led Pleasant Valley in kills with nine while also chipping in three blocks. Kiersten Griesback also added nine assists.

Tamaqua-Blue Mountain

Blue Mountian defeated Tamaqua 25-12, 25-16, 25-9 in Schuylkill League action.

Rylee Devlin had two kills, two blocks and four digs for Tamaqua.

Pine Grove-Panther Vy.

Pine Grove defeated Panther Valley in Schuylkill League play, 26-24, 15-25, 25-19, 25-10.

Kristyn Gates had 11 digs for the Panthers. Jamey Mikovich chipped in seven blocks.

With the loss, Panther Valley falls to 9-4 overall and 8-3 in the Schuylkill League. It is now tied with Pine Grove for first place in Division 3.

Jim Thorpe-No. Schuylkill

North Schuylkill defeated Jim Thorpe 25-19, 25-21, 29-27 in Schuylkill League action.

Riley Carroll led the Olympians with 15 assists and two kills. Makenzie Walck added five kills, four blocks and three service points. Shannon Green chipped in five kills, three blocks and one service point.
