McAdoo police have cited Zaine Mitchell, 31, of 595 W. Maple St., Hazleton, following a traffic stop on Sept. 8.

Patrolman Steven Homanko was on patrol at 6:30 p.m. when he observed a 2004 Honda Civic traveling south on Kennedy Drive. The vehicle did not have a driver's side mirror. The officer turned to follow the vehicle, at which time the driver increased his speed and failed to stop for a stop sign.

Homanko initiated a traffic stop. The driver was identified as Mitchell, who had an open bottle of Heineken beer in the car. He failed several field sobriety tests and a portable breath test indicated a blood-alcohol content of .095 percent, more than the legal limit of .08.

Mitchell was cited for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, driving without a license, careless driving, no driver's side mirror and failure to stop at a sign.
