Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold a 9 a.m. Sunday Service of the Word with Contemporary worship, featuring the Trinity Praise Band. Guest vocalist is Becky McFadden. The Rev. George P. Zacharda presides.

A nursery is available for children through age 6 during the weekly 9 a.m. worship service. The nursery will be staffed with an experienced caregiver who is trained in CPR and first aid and a youth volunteer.

Sunday School "Power Hour" begins at 10:15 a, m. for ages 3-through-adults. There will be no Power Hour next Sunday, Nov. 18, due to the congregational meeting.

Upcoming events at Trinity includes a community pre-Thanksgiving Service, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20. Worship will be led by the Rev. Chris deForest, pastor of St. John's, Mahoning Township, and the Rev. Anthony Pagatto, pastor at Dinkey Memorial, Ashfield. The public is invited to attend.

The Advent Cantata, "The Voices of Christmas," by Joseph Martin will be performed by combined choirs and a full orchestra including a harpist at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov 25.

The young people who attend the Sunday School Power Hour are preparing for their program "The Christmas Story" for the Dec. 9 worship service.

Seasonal decorating of the church takes place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15. Volunteers are welcome for the hanging of the greens and adorning two live trees with lights and "Christmon" ornaments.

Beltzville Lions Club

Beltzville Lions Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12 at St. Peter and Paul Church. There will be a pizza party at this meeting.

LAHS Class of 1978 reunion

Lehighton Area High School class of 1978 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at Sapore Restaurant to plan the first 35-year class reunion. For additional information, call Brian Smith Sr. at (610) 377-4789.

Community Dinner planned

All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, will host a free community dinner from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15. Everyone is invited.

Toys for Tots registration

Schuylkill-Carbon Marine Corps League will hold 2012 registration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16; and Saturday, Nov. 17; Friday, Nov. 30; Saturday, Dec. 1; Friday, Dec. 7; and Saturday, Dec. 8 at Salem Bible Fellowship Church, 1105 Frederick's Grove Road, Lehighton. This is the only location for registration. No phone calls will be accepted. Those who want to receive toys for children must be there on one of the dates listed.

To ensure that a family is eligible for Toys for Tots, there must be a letter from your church/clergy, proof of public assistance, or proof of unemployment.

Only parents or legal guardians are permitted to register children. The person registering the children must have ID for themselves. Legal guardian must have proof of guardianship.

For each child being registered, a birth certificate is required.

The age limit is 14 years, for handicapped children, it is 16 years.

Surviving the Holidays" seminar

A GriefShare: "Surviving the Holidays" seminar, is being held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Mahoning. The seminar offers practical, actionable strategies for making it through the holiday season.

At this two-hour seminar, participants will view a video featuring advice from people in grief who've faced the holidays after their loss. You'll hear insights from respected Christian counselors, pastors and psychologists. You'll receive a Holiday Survival Guide with over 30 encouraging readings, helpful charts and tips to manage the holiday season during this difficult time.

At GriefShare: Surviving the Holidays, you'll meet with other grieving people who have an understanding of what you're going through. They won't judge you or force you to share, but will accept you where you are and will offer comfort and support. People learn that there are different ways to grieve.

Your holiday season won't be easy; your emotions may ambush you and suck you under at times. But you can choose to walk through this season in a way that honors your loved one and puts you on the path of health and healing.
