FT 13-14 All-Stars stay alive
MILROY - Franklin Township's 13-14 Babe Ruth team remained alive in the Pennsylvania Babe Ruth Tournament with a 9-8 victory over Perry County.
By virtue of the win, Franklin will take on West End in one semifinal tonight at 8 p.m. Ben Salem faces Broomall/Newtown in the other semifinal.
Franklin dropped two games over the weekend, but still finished as the No. 3 team in the National Division to advance.
Donovan Buchinsky and KJ Snerr had the only two hits for Franklin in a 7-2 loss to West End (Williamsport) on Saturday.
"I think the two-day game the day before really took its toll on our kids," said Franklin manager Brad Niehoff. "We couldn't come up with anything to help
our cause, just looked flat."

Franklin Township jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings on Sunday, but couldn't hold on as Mifflin County grabbed a 7-5 win.
McCullough had a double and a single, while KJ Snerr, Jordan McElmoyle, and Brady Niehoff each had one hit for Franklin.
"After the four-run lead, I felt comfortable that the kids had bounced back from the night before." said Niehoff. "It was nice to jump on them early and get the lead, but give Mifflin County credit, they
battled right back.We had plenty of chances later in the game, but couldn't come up with a key hit when we needed it."

PV 11-12 Tournament
Jim Thorpe Red picked up a 12-8 win over Lansford in the Panther Valley 11-121 tournament.
T.J. Garritano went three-for-three with three doubles and four RBI's. Trevor Hickey also had three hits and scored three runs. Nate DeMarco chipped in with two hits and two runs scored. Zach Searfoss was the winning pitcher.
For Lansford Bradley Buzzard and Zack Kindt had two hits apiece.
