Lansford man facing charges

Brian Dennis, 34, 370 W. Snyder Ave., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place at 1:58 p.m. Sept. 2 on W. Patterson Street. Charges of persistent disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, and scattering rubbish were filed by Officer Jason Helmer.

According to an affidavit of probable cause:

Helmer was on duty and in a marked cruiser when he was flagged down by a female at the Turkey Hill Minit Mart, reporting an intoxicated male creating a disturbance in the area of the Lansford Mini-Mall on West Patterson Street. The female said children would soon be getting off the school bus in the area, and she was concerned for their welfare.

Helmer saw the man littering paper waste on the sidewalks, staggering, and walking into parking meters along Coal Street.

Upon making contact with the man, he was identified as Dennis. Helmer noticed he was disheveled and appeared to have urinated on himself. Dennis also had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath.

Helmer asked Dennis how much he had had to drink, to which Dennis replied "None of your ----- business. I ain't afraid of no ------ cops."

Dennis continued to be uncooperative and shouted obscenities after being told several times to stop. various people were present in the nearby business district, and their attention was drawn to the commotion that Dennis was making.

Dennis was arrested and taken to the police station, shouting obscenities on the way.

A portable breath test revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.206 percent.
