Schuylkill man facing charges

Published February 17. 2012 05:01PM

A Schuylkill County man is facing multiple charges following a search of his residence. State police at Frackville identified the suspect as Joshua Robert Ptaszkowksi, 22, formerly of Shenandoah, and currently an inmate at the county prison in Pottsville.

According to troopers on Jan. 18 about 2:15 p.m. they executed a search warrant at 104 W. Laurel St., Shenandoah, Ptaszkowksi's residence, for the purpose of obtaining evidence pertaining to a shooting incident that occurred along Church Street, in Ryan Township, on Jan. 16.

During the course of the search a firearm believed used in the shooting incident was found. Also found in a second-floor bedroom was a large amount of heroin and crack cocaine, a large amount of U.S. currency and a small amount of marijuana. The firearm was seized and troopers secured the home and got a second warrant.

During the execution of the second warrant the drugs and money found in the home were seized. The amount of drugs found indicated it was for delivery.

On Thursday troopers charged Ptaszkowsksi with persons not to possess, use, manufacture, control, sell or transfer firearms, a felony one count. He was also charged with the following drugs counts: possession with intent to deliver-heroin, a felony one; possession with intent to deliver-crack cocaine, a felony one; and possession of small amount of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned via video from the prison by District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, who set bail at $25,000 straight cash. Ptaszkowski remains in the county prison unable to post any of the bail set on the new charges and other unrelated counts.
