Fire destroys four new automobiles

A truck tractor with semi-trailer combination caught fire Thursday, Feb. 16, along Interstate 81 in Frailey Township, Schuylkill County, resulting in four new automobiles being destroyed.

State police at Frackville said the incident occurred about 7 p.m. as the rig was being operated southbound, when a mechanical issue with the trailer caused the fire.As a result the four new autos were incinerated and at least four others sustained damages.Troopers did not identify the driver of the rig or the types of vehicles involved. PennDOT employees responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control and the lengthy cleanup operation.
