Driver cited after crash

A driver was cited following a rear-end crash that occurred on Aug. 17 along SR209 at the entrance to a McDonald's restaurant in Nesquehoning.

Police Chief Sean Smith reported that a 1996 Geo Tracker operated by Joseph Smith, of 106 Kaysec Lane, Lehighton, struck the rear of a 2000 Dodge Intrepid driven by Christine Parrish, of 219 E. McMurtire St., Summit Hill.

Smith said Parrish was stopped while attempting to make a left turn into the restaurant parking lot. A female juvenile passenger with Parrish was injured. Responding to the scene was the Nesquehoning ambulance and volunteers from the Nesquehoning Hose Company and Columbus Fire Company.

Joseph Smith was cited for driving a vehicle at an (un) safe speed and careless driving.
