Construction activity affects turnpike travel

Construction related activities that impact traffic on I-476 and State Route 248 will continue until the end of the month, according to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Northeastern Extension (I-476): Trucks will continue to periodically exit and enter the construction entrances northbound Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Flaggers and traffic control devices will be in place for motorists traveling northbound from the Lehigh Tunnel.State Route 248: Heavy hauling will continue Monday-Friday between the hours of 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Trucks traveling to and from Rt. 895 steel recyclers, aggregate sources and waste sites will continue to exit and enter Rt. 248 westbound from Centre Street and the Pohopoco Access Road.Walsh Construction has reduced traffic on Rt. 248 to one lane in each direction between State Road (Blockers) and Centre Street (Riverwalck Saloon). This pattern will remain in place around the clock until the contractor completes dismantling the remaining section of the old Lehigh River Bridge.
