The Jim Thorpe Area School Board appointed Robert Schaninger to fill the opening on the school board at a special board meeting. Schaninger will be replacing Jeremy Melber, who recently resigned from the school board.

Schaninger was voted in by a vote of 5-2, with one absent.Schaninger accepted the position and was sworn in.The board had requested and received letters of intent to fill the board vacancy. After receiving the letters the board reviewed the candidates.In other news,The board plans to continue looking into the resurfacing of the track and the new improvements project. The board voted to go out again for bids for the track resurfacing and new improvements.Also, the board approved the contracted services with Advanced Management Software, LLC to conduct BusTracks Route Analysis.April's regularly scheduled school board meetings will be held at Penn Kidder Campus.
