Chestnuthill Township Planning Commission member, David Johnson gave his resignation at the last supervisors' meeting. Supervisor Chairman Chuck Gould asked township office manager, Cathy Martinelli, to send a letter to Mr. Johnson, thanking him for his 12 years of service on the board and to the community. Township manager, David Albright, said that Johnson will still be involved with PIC (Pride in Chestnuthill) and that he is a great asset to the community.

Supervisor Chairman Gould said that Nancy Beck asked to be considered for the position vacated by Mr. Johnson and the board voted, 3-0, to appoint Ms. Beck to the position.Bernie Kozen, executive director of West End Park and Open Space Commission, reported that it made over $1,000 with its Bingo night and craft show both held in March at the Chestnuthill Township Park building. He said that over 100 kids attended the park's Easter Egg Hunt and about 75 participated in the coloring contest.He encourages everyone to participate in the Give and Take Day to be held at the park on April 28 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. People can bring unwanted but good usable items for others to take. There will be a free exercise demo class with Leslie Glover on Tuesday, April 10, for seniors at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. for adults. On Saturday, May 5 from 12-2 p.m. there will be a free Mother's Day Crafts event at Saylorsburg Park where the kids can paint clay pots and make bird feeders for their mothers. If anyone would be interested in joining a cleanup crew for the Regional Park, meet on Saturday, May 5 at 8 a.m. at Chestnuthill Park. WEPOSC meetings are at 7 p.m., the second Wednesday of each month, the Friends of WEPOSC meet at 6 p.m., the second Wednesday of each month and the Ross Township Park & Recreation meetings at 6:30 p.m., the second Thursday of each month, all at the Ross Township Municipal Building, Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg.Supervisor vice Chairman Dave Fleetwood said the next Chestnuthill Historical Society meeting will be on Wednesday, April 18 at 7 p.m. at the Chestnuthill Township Park building on Rt. 715, Brodheadsville.Supervisor Chairman Gould reported that the soil testing was completed on the Sottile property on Bonser Drive and the township is awaiting the report.Bids for the township's sale of the bucket truck, crane, dozer and GMC dump truck were received. The township roadmaster, Merton Whitney thought the bid from Tobias Machine for the John Deere dozer of $32,802 was a fair market value but that the other bids were low and he wanted to do more research. The board voted, 3-0, to accept the bid for the dozer and to wait until they hear from the roadmaster before voting on the other items.In the township's Emergency Management Coordinator Don Zipp's report, the West End Ambulance responded to 149 calls and the West End Vol. Fire Co. responded to 84 calls in the month of March. The Pennsylvania State Police responded to 334 calls in Chestnuthill for March, including one aggravated assault, two robberies of individuals, not establishments, two sexual assaults, two fatal crashes, 22 thefts, not including robberies and nine DUI arrests.The board voted to approve, 3-0:*a donation request for the Monroe County Youth Field Day of $1,000, which the township has donated in the past and is in the budget*canceled supervisor meetings of April 17 and May 17, scheduling a bill pay only for April 16, 7:30 a.m. and May 14, 7:30 a.m.*authorization to advertise bids for FOB materials*Resolution 2012-10 to amend Zoning Hearing Board fees. The board amended and revised the following fee schedule. Variance or Special Exception: Single-family residential use-$500; All other uses-$800; Validity challenge appeal (Initial Hearing Fee)-$800, per Hearing Fee thereafter, actual costs; Appeal of Zoning Officer Action-$500. Supervisor Chairman Gould said the fees are set so that whoever requests a hearing has to pay the fees so the taxpayers do not have to pay for someone's issues.*Resolution 2012-09, recognizing the importance of the Boy Scouts of America and recognizing and congratulating Boy Scout Robert Nemecek for attaining the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout.The board approved, 2-1, the lot line adjustment requested by Charles Allen and Phyllis Conklin, as suggested by township engineer Chris McDermott. Supervisor Chairman Gould abstained, stating it was his cousin.At the end of the meeting, Supervisor Chairman Gould said that he was on the verge of voting for a time limit for residents to have the floor. Supervisor Vice Chairman Fleetwood said that "We have some individuals that put constraints on our time but I wouldn't like to see other residents who have legitimate issues be limited."Supervisor Chairman Gould said that he wanted everyone to think about two things until the next meeting. One was a time limit of five minutes with a caveat and how to handle public requests for public information."I'd like to hear your thoughts on this," he said to the audience and board.
