Tamaqua woman is cited

A Tamaqua woman faces charges following an alleged confrontation with a woman from Girardville on Sunday.

The victim, Sharon Hockenberry, went to the Tamaqua police station at 10 a.m. to report being struck by Wendy Fredericks, 50, of 304 Spruce St. Hockenberry and a Randy Smith were at the Fredericks home at the time when an argument began over changing the last name of Hockenberry's son.

Fredericks allegedly became angry, threatened to punch Hockenberry in the face, then ordered her from the home.

Once outside Fredericks allegedly struck Hockenberry, causing her to fall against a car.

Fredericks was cited for harassment.
