MS concert

The Tamaqua Middle School Music Department will present its annual Holiday Music Program on Dec. 20 in the Tamaqua Area Auditorium.Featured performers will include the Sixth Grade Band and the Middle School Select and General Chorus.The Sixth Grade Band is directed by Marsha Rodgers and will be the opening act.The Middle School Choirs, which include the Select and General Choruses, are directed by John Buglio.The General Chorus will present the finale.The concert is free and open to the general public. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7 p.m.Board of HealthThe December meeting of the Tamaqua Board of Health was held at the Tamaqua Municipal Building with Randolph Gormley, Shirley Becker, James Gormley, Earl Boettger and Health Enforcement Officer James Barron in attendance.Barron reported receiving and adjusting three complaints during the past month: two concerning trash/rubbish; and one possible infestation.There were no cases of reportable diseases for November.The board meets the first Tuesday of each month, at 11:30 a.m., in the Tamaqua Municipal Building.First UMThe Rev. James Cavallero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.The service will include a cantata presentation by the chancel choir.Activities for next week will include: Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.; Wednesday, chancel choir practice at 7:30 p.m.Christmas services will include: candlelight service, 9 p.m., on Christmas Eve; "Noel Singstunde" at 10:45 a.m. on Christmas Day.St. John UCCThe Rev. Kevin Duffy Guy will officiate at the 9:30 a.m. service this Sunday in St. John United Church of Christ.The service will include a presentation of the cantata "Mary Did You Know," and will be followed by a time of fellowship.Sunday school classes meet at 11 a.m.The weekly service is broadcast on radio station WLSH, AM1410, at 11:30 a.m. Sundays.Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, choir rehearsal at 7:30 p.m.Christmas Eve services will be held at 4 p.m. (quiet) and at 7:30 p.m. (candlelight).Bethany ECThe Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional and 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church.Nursery care and primary church are provided at the later service.Sunday school classes will be held at 9:30 a.m.Also on Sunday, Triad and the growth group will meet at 11:45 a.m.Activities for next week will include: Wednesday, Prayer time at 8:30 a.m., Tamaqua Youth Ministry Christmas party 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, musician rehearsal at 9 a.m., Praise practice at 9:30 a.m.Christmas Eve services will be held at 3 p.m. (traditional) and 7 p.m. (contemporary).
