St. Paul LutheranThe children of the Sunday school of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will present their annual Christmas pageant during the regular worship service at the church on Sunday, Dec. 18. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m.The youths will hold their Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 17, during which time a dress rehearsal will also take place.Christmas partyAmerican Legion Post 316, Summit Hill, will hold its annual Christmas party for the children of the community on Saturday, Dec. 17.The doors will open at noon and Santa Claus is expected to arrive via fire truck around 1 o'clock.Refreshments will be served to the children, who will also receive a Christmas stocking from Santa.Christmas wishesArea residents desiring to send Christmas wishes to Sr. Mary Florence Hawe, former teacher, principal and pastoral assistant in Summit Hill for many years, can do so by sending it in care of the Sisters of Mercy Convent, 515 Montgomery Ave., Merion Station, PA 19066.St. Paul LutheranSt. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will hold its Christmas service on Christmas Eve, Saturday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m. The Rev. Carl Schweitzer, a retired pastor from Lehighton, will be the guest preacher.A Christmas Day service will be held at 9 a.m. at St. John Slovak Lutheran Church, Lansford.Food pantryThe Summit Hill Food Pantry will hold its regular monthly pantry distribution service on Tuesday, Dec. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon. Persons seeking assistance are reminded help is needed to carry food boxes and other items from the pantry to vehicles since assistance is limited.Persons reporting for assistance must have their own tote bags to pack their own food. They are reminded no parking will be allowed in the alley adjacent to the pantry (Summit Hill Heritage Center, Chestnut and Hazard streets) before 9:45 a.m., due to deliveries. Also, no parking will be allowed in the lot behind the pantry.To decorate churchMembers of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will decorate the church for the Christmas season after the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Dec. 18.Parishioners are invited to assist with this project, as are students who need to meet service hour requirements for their respective schools.LansfordSons of AMVETSThe Sons of the AMVETS, Post 83, Lansford, will hold a reorganizational meeting on Sunday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m. at the post home.Commander Bob Soltis will be in charge of the session.
