Lock 13 at Parryville was a busy place recently as 24 Trail Tenders installed benches and a picnic table and did some general cleanup at the Lehigh Canal Park.
Volunteers burned brush, tore down an erosion fence, and removed parking dividers installed by a local restaurant during the workday.In charge was Dennis Scholl, outreach coordinator of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor.Volunteers included members of the Beltzville Lions Club, Dean Hower of Treichlers, Dean Black of Allentown and Jerry Weiner of Nazareth, plus Boys from Valley Youth House.The benches had been constructed by volunteers a few weeks ago.Following the clean up, volunteers were served burgers, hot dogs and other. This cleanup was open to members of all Trail Tenders chapters.
