A Lehighton man was sentenced to a county jail term on Thursday after pleading guilty to a drug possession count. He was one of five defendants in pending cases to enter a guilty plea before Senior Judge Richard W. Webb.

Palmerton incidentDillon M. Hontz, 22, pleaded to the drug charge stemming from an incident on July 15 along the 700 block of Princeton Avenue, in Palmerton.Hontz was stopped by borough police and found to have in his possession heroin.Webb sentenced him to serve three to one day less 24 months in prison. He was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment. He was given credit for 98 days spent in prison and was paroled. However, he will not be release until the adult probation office conducts a pre-parole investigation.Other pleasOther defendants to enter a plea before Webb included:Barry Robert Corbin, 40, of McKean, Erie County, pleaded to one count of identity theft. He was arrested on Sept. 1, 2008, following a vehicle stop by state police at Lehighton. At the stop he produced a driver's license belonging to another person.Webb sentenced him to serve 12 to 24 months in a state prison with the term concurrent to a Montgomery County and federal sentences he is currently serving.Stanley Haydt Jr., 40, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count each of criminal mischief-damage to property, and theft. He was arrested by Franklin Township police for an incident on April 7, 2010, at the Shell Service Station along Interchange Road. He did damages inside the station and also stole three lighters.Webb placed him on probation for a year on the theft count and imposed a fine of $100 on the mischief charge. He was also ordered to get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and make total restitution of $500.Frederick Robert Young, 41, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on May 12 along Main Road in Franklin Township. Given a test, the result was .16BAC.Webb sentenced him to serve 48 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $500, one year license suspension and get a D&A evaluation.He will begin the jail term at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 28.Joseph Anthony Pellegrino, 45, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of false identification to law enforcement officers. He was arrested on Feb. 3 at Oak and North streets., in Summit Hill, where he gave a false ID to police during a traffic stop.Webb deferred sentencing and ordered a presentence investigation (PSI) report be prepared by the adult probation office.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs, which average near $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
