Lansford attractions highlighted on billboard

Visitors to Lansford's No. 9 Mine and Museum now have a preview of the borough's attractions. A billboard designed by Coaldale artist Sue Frendak his now complete with the names of businesses and a church.

Lansford Alive members Chris Ondrus and Bob Silver, and Sara Ruch, project manager for the Lansford-Summit Hill Community Partnership, recently put up the first of the six signs. Lansford Alive sponsored the sign, with funds coming through former state Rep. Keith McCall.The billboard is in a good location: Dale Freudenberger, of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, said about 7,000 people tour the mine and museum each year, with thousands more attending festivals, car shows and other events at the site."The potential to draw a lot of individuals into the downtown and surrounding area is there, making the billboard a worthwhile addition," said Lansford Alive member Chris Ondrus.Businesses whose names are on the billboard are Kelly's Irish Pub, Cabrera's Pizza, the Lansford Family Restaurant, The Medicine Shoppe, First Niagara Bank, Marco's Pizza, Valley Athletic Supply, and St. John the Evangelist Lutheran Church.
