Carrissa Whateley, 22, of 49 E. Abbott St., Lansford, faces charges as a result of an incident which took place at 2:25 p.m. Sept. 16 outside her residence. Charges of criminal mischief, two counts of disorderly conduct and harassment were filed by Officer Jason Helmer.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:At about 3:10 p.m. Sept. 16, Helmer received a complaint of criminal mischief at 49 E. Abbott St.The complainant, David Frangioudakis, said he had received a call from his estranged wife, Whateley, stating that she could no longer take care of their child, and asked that he come get the child. Frangioudakis arrived and entered the residence, at which time Whateley told him he could not take the child and blocked the exit and would not allow him to leave.Whateley grabbed a baseball bat near the front door and began swinging the bat in Frangioudakis' direction, attempting to strike him.Frangioudakis stated that he moved her from his path and exited the residence, and got into a vehicle owned by Sara Mitchell. But before he could get it started, Whateley ran outside and began striking the hood and windshield with the bat, causing damage.Police attempted to contact Whateley without success, and were told by her family that she had left the residence and that her whereabouts were unknown.Contact was made with Whateley at her residence on Sept. 19 at about 10:30 a.m.After being read her Miranda warnings, Whateley stated that there have been ongoing personal and marital problems, and that she had just "snapped." She admitted her actions.The damage to Mitchell's car was estimated at $1,959.62.
