Michael Kaspszyk, Eldred Township solicitor, reported that the Environmental Hearing Board dismissed Blue Mountain Preservation Association, Inc.'s appeal against the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Environmental Protection and Alpine Rose Resorts, Inc. As stated by Bernard A. Labuskes, Jr., judge, "The Board holds that the Department's (DEP) issuance of a new NPDES permit for post-construction storm water discharges that was revised following an earlier remand by the Board complied with antidegradation requirements."

Anthony and Carol Masi received an Eldred Township permit to pave their driveway in February 2011. They had a local paving contractor pave their driveway in April. At the Sept. 7 Eldred Township supervisors' meeting, they expressed their confusion as to why they have been informed that the driveway is not in compliance with the township's ordinance.Supervisor Chairman and Roadmaster Clair Borger told them their contractor did not pave the driveway following the township's ordinance and that the driveway is at least three inches too high and has eliminated a swale.Solicitor Kaspszyk explained to them that their paving contractor is responsible for fixing the problem.It was decided that the Roadmaster and the township engineer will visit the site to determine the exact deficiencies and will then send a letter to Mr. and Mrs. Masi outlining the same.The supervisors' approved:*the 2012 Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement System (PMRS) Minimum Municipal Obligation (MMO). Each year the township must complete a MMO worksheet to calculate its pension bill for the upcoming year, providing payroll information to PMRS.*sending an authorized submission to the Monroe County Financial Assistance Program Grant for ordinance updatesSupervisor Gretchen Gannon Petit reported that she will be attending the Municipal Floodplain Management Workshop on Sept. 21.Supervisor Gannon Petit said she would like to see a recycling day at the township municipal building in the near future that would allow people to bring in their electronics from cell phones, computers, batteries to appliances. Residents would be responsible for paying the recycler, Advanced Green Solutions of Walnutport, to accept their electronic "trash."Supervisor Gannon Petit would like the residents of Eldred to know that there will be a Woods Walk on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Schoonover Residence in Bushkill, sponsored by PADCNR.Supervisor Sharon Solt said the Coolbaugh Township Historical Association will have a speaker presenting the topic on George Armstrong Custer, Monday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m.Supervisor Solt will be attending the Pennsylvania Council of Government's yearly conference Sept. 10, 11. She will then be attending the 9/11 observance at Shanksville, PA, where Flight 93 crashed on 9/11.Solicitor Kaspszyk said that there are some readdressing 911 signs improperly posted on some people's properties and Supervisor Solt said that some letters have gone out to some of the residents that have illegally placed their numbers on utility poles.
