Six plea guilty to DUI

Six motorists who entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or drugs were sentenced recently in Schuylkill County court by President Judge William E. Baldwin.

Jonathan Allen Wampole, 41, Pottsville, placed in Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) for six months beginning with a period of 15 days on house arrest with electronic monitoring and pay required fee of $12 per day, followed by four months and 45 days on probation, fined $1,000, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete alcohol highway safe driving school and intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, submit to random tests and driver's license suspended 12 months. Wampole was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Kirk Becker.John Kenneth Guidice, 26, Manorville, N.Y., sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse counseling, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) and submit to random tests. Guidice was cited by Pine Grove Cpl. Frederick Futchko. He previously was placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) probation program for 12 months but it was revoked before he completed the program. The program is reserved for first offenders charged with non-violent crimes.Michael Thomas Zdiera, 19, Girardville, was placed in IPP for six months with the first 15 days on house arrest followed by four months and 45 days on probation, fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete intensive outpatient substance abuse treatment, continue with provider for Behavioral Health Program, submit to random tests and license suspended 12 months.On a summary charge of failing to have a driver's license was fined $200 plus $50 costs. Zdiera was cited by Butler Township Chief Edward Tarantelli.Karen Lynn Garcia, 31, Frackville, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $300 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $180 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school, and receive outpatient treatment. On summary charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Garcia was cited by Trooper Matthew Barrett when stopped on Interstate 81 in Kline Township.Daniel M. Pannulla Jr., 24, Abington, placed in the IPP for six months with the first 15 days on house arrest followed by four months and 45 days on probation. On a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia must serve an additional 12 months on probation. He also was fined $1,000, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, complete safety school and outpatient substance abuse treatment, submit to random tests and his license is suspended 12 months.On a summary charge of failing to keep on the right side of the road was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Pannulla was cited by Pine Grove Sgt. Jeffrey Futchko.Gary Warren Keister, 58, Tremont, was sentenced to serve 48 hours to six months in the county prison, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to CJEA, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, and complete safety school and outpatient treatment.On summary charges of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic, failing to activate turning signals when required and failing to drive at safe speed was fined a total of $75 plus $150 costs. Keister was cited by Trooper Joel Zimmerman when stopped on Keystone Street in Porter Township.Each defendant must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
