A Luzerne County man, formerly of Nesquehoning, was in Carbon County court Tuesday, again, pleading to more criminal charges filed against him as part of a four-county burglary and drug ring. He was one of several defendants in pending criminal cases to enter a guilty plea before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

Gets breakEdward Cesanek, 30, of Hunlock Creek, pleaded to one count each of burglary and receiving stolen property, both felonies, but got a break in a plea agreement with the district attorney's office.Cesanek, who is currentlly serving state prison terms after entering guilty pleas in Carbon and other counties, had his sentence imposed Tuesday run concurrent with terms he is already serving on other counts.Cesanek previously pleaded to counts involved in a four county burglary and drug ring. A group of 10 or 12 were arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office along with local drug task forces and local police. The ring operated in Carbon, Lehigh, Schuylkill and Northampton counties.The ring would break into homes and businesses, steal various items and sell them at pawn shops in the Lehigh County area. Some pawn shop owners were also arrested.Nanovic imposed a state prison term of 18 to 36 months on each count running concurrently with each other and concurrent to a 30 to 60 month term previously imposed in Carbon.Cesanek was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol (D&A) evlauation and follow any recommendation for treatment, make total resititution of $2,745.50 to two victims, supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee.Other pleasOther defendants who entered guilty pleas included:Alec Robert Kresge, 23, of Andreas, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. He was arrested by Lehighton police following a vehicle stop along Blakelee Blvd. on Jan. 4. Found in his vehicle was various packaging materials use in drug dealing and marijuana. Kresge admitted to a long-term drug abuse problem and is currently arranging for placement in a inpatient rehabilitation facility.Nanovic deferred sentencing to a later day and ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation (PSI) report.Kresge has a pending detainer filed against him by Lehigh County on another drug-related case.Stephen Kent Combs Sr., 43, of North Wales, Montgomery County, pleaded to one count of driving under the influence (DUI). He was arrested on Jan. 29 along Interchange Road in Frankling Township. Given a test, the result was .22BAC.Nanovic sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300, one year license suspension, get a D&A evaluation and continue his outpatient counseling sessions. He began the jail term immediately.Felicia Ann Bower, 32, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of theft. She was arrested by state police at Lehighton for an incident at the Blue Mountain Ski Area in Lower Towamensing Township.She was employed at the resort and was caught stealing money. Bower is currently in the prison on a parole/probation violation. She previously pleaded guilty to a charge of manslaughter for injecting another person with drugs and he died.Nanovic sentenced her to serve one to 12 months in jail followed by one year probation, get both D&A and mental health evaluations, continue mental health counseling and make restitution of $364.42 to the resort. It was noted that the restitution has already been paid.She began the jail term immediately.Susan Steinhauser, 30, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. She was arrested by Lehighton police for an incident in which Billie Jo Swartz was the victim. Steinhauser removed a purse belonging to the victim from a vehicle in or around Dec. 1, 2010.She is currently in prison in pending burglary and theft charges and faces revocation from the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Dispostion (ARD) probation program on a DUI count.Nanovic placed her on probation for a year and ordered she get a D&A evaluation.Steinhouse remains in custody on the pending charges.Daniel Cosden, 24, of Philadelphia, and formerly of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-heroin.He was arrested by agents of the state Attorney General's office as part of an undercover operation involving controlled buys by agents or confidential informants.Nanovic sentenced him to serve six to one day less 24 months in prison, and ordered he get a D&A evaluation, supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee, and imposed zero tolerance on D&A use. He was given credit for 190 days spent in jail to date on the charges.Michael Phillip Belson, 33, of Nesquehoning, pleaded to one count of retail theft. He was arrested on March 4 at the Jim Thorpe Market attempting to take items valued at $22.34.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $100 and make restitution of $22.30.Corey D. Rehrig, 22, of Jim Thorpe, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. He was arrested by Jim Thrope police for an incident involving Cameron Fuller as the victim.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he get a D&A evaluation.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
