Joseph Roman Jr. earns master's degree in history

A Nesquehoning man recently completed his graduate requirements to earn a master of arts in history degree from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.

Joseph Roman Jr., 100 W. Diaz Ave., earned the degree with an area of concentration in the history of Genocide/Latin America.At West Chester, he was a graduate student representative to the university's Library Committee and authored articles on the library for the graduate students' newsletter.A son of Joseph Sr. and Madelyn Roman, he is a graduate of Panther Valley High School. He initially earned a bachelor of arts degree in history with a minor in political science from King's College, Wilkes-Barre. He graduated there Magna Cum Laude and was an inductee in the National Honor Society, the National Political Science Honor Society and the National Honor Society for Adult Students.While at King's, Roman was a member of the History Club and served as vice president of the Mu Delta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society at the college.He is currently working as an adjunct professor at Lehigh Carbon Community College, where he instructs history and political science at the college's Carbon and Morgan sites.
