DUI arrests reported by PMRP

Several driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by the Pocono Mountain Regional police recently.

On June 12 about 2:09 a.m. officers stopped Richard Reda, 47, of Long Pond, along Sullivan Trial near Long Pond Road, after observing him driving erratically. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported to the Pocono Medical Center (PMC), East Stroudsburg, for a blood test.Police said during the stop marijuana was found in the vehicle. Charges of DUI of alcohol or a controlled substance along with drug counts and motor vehicle code violations were filed against Reda.On June 23 about 1:29 a.m. Augustina Ruiz, 20, of Long Pond, was stopped along Long Pond Road near Sullivan Trail for a equipment violation. He was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was taken to PMC for a blood test. He was charged with DUI under the age of 21 and underage drinking, police said.On Saturday, July 2, about 1:12 a.m. police stopped a vehicle along SR196 at SR423 in Coolbaugh Township, after observing it cross over the center line several times. The driver was identified as Michelle Burgos, 30, of Tobyhanna. She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was then taken to PMC for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results.On Sunday, July 3, about 1:43 a.m. police stopped a vehicle along SR115 for several motor vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Donna A. Cays, 41, of Stroudsburg. She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was then taken to the Fern Ridge barracks for a breath test. The test revealed she was twice the legal limit, police said.Cays will be charged with DUI and related offenses.Also on Sunday, about 3:26 a.m. police stopped a vehicle along SR940 in Tobyhanna Township for vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as Liza Thompson, 30, of Bear, Del. She was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. She was taken to PMC for a blood test.The DUI charge is pending the test results.
