A brief stand-off with police allegedly preceded a drug arrest Wednesday in Penn Forest Township.

The incident happened at about 9:30 p.m. at 86 Mountain View.Defendants, reportedly brother and sister, are Drew Muslim, 27, of Macungie, and Wakeelah Muslim, 23, of North Plainfield, N.J.Drew Muslim had an active Pa. parole warrant for aggravated assault on a police officer, it was reported.Trooper Daniel R. Nilon of the Lehighton barracks of the state police said a tip was received on June 28 that Drew Muslim was distributing drugs on a regular basis in the Palmerton area.That tip, said Nilon, also related that he was in possession of a stolen firearm.Police said a two-day investigation of the tip concluded with Muslim being located, along with his sister. At the time police entered the residence at 86 Mountain View, Penn Forest, the suspects were in the process of packaging raw crack cocaine.Nilon stated in the press release that "Both Muslim's were arrested after a brief stand-off and a significant amount of crack cocaine and cash were seized."Drew Muslim allegedly had eaten an unknown amount of crack cocaine in an effort to conceal his activities while being taken into custody. He was transported from the Lehighton state police barracks to the Gnaden Huetten Campus of Blue Mountain Health System and reportedly was in the intesnive care unit for over 12 hours.for over 12 hours.Both the brother and sister were arraigned before District Judge Joseph Homanko of Weatherly and were jailed at the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.Assisting state police were police from Jim Thorpe and Palmerton police deparments, Lehighton and Palmerton Ambulances, and the Pa. State Parole, Allentown office.
