Panther Valley library sets schedule for summer programs

The Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, has set its summer hours and programs.

Summer library hours are as follows: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. 1 p.m.; Tues: 9 a.m. to noon and 4-7 p.m. Summer programs begin the week of June 19. To register, call the library at (570) 645-3780.Preschool story time will be held Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Story time is for ages 3-5 and will have a "summer" theme. Story time incudes stories, songs, finger plays, coloring pages and snacks. An adult must stay with each child during story time.A Summer Reading Club will be held for children entering kindergarten through age 5 on Thursday mornings at 11 a.m. This year's theme is "Get a Clue @ Your Library." Children will use stories, games and crafts to solve mysteries. Snacks will be included.An adult reading program will be held on Saturday mornings. Adults interested in joining should attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, June 14 at 6 p.m.These programs will be held for six weeks.Book buffs are invited to the annual used book sale on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday June 25 at the Lansford Ambulance building. The sale begins at 8 a.m. each morning.During the summer, Craft Night will be held Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Craft night is for children of all ages. No registration is necessary. Call the library for the craft theme of the week.Anyone who is looking for a place to do some volunteer work is asked to call the library.The Panther Valley Public Library has over 11,000 books, four computers for public use and free Wi-Fi service. Parents are required to sign an Internet permission slip for patrons under the age of 18 who wish to surf the net.Library cards are free to all patrons.
