Penn State Extension office to host canning workshop in Lehighton

Space is still available for the "Yes I Can" workshop, hosted by Penn State Extension offices in Carbon and Monroe counties. The class will take place from 12:30-3:30 p.m., July 5, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets, Lehighton.

The workshop is an introductory course that provides today's recommendations on how to safely can seasonal garden produce and specialty items. It includes cost, equipment, how to use a pressure canner and boiling water bath canner, types of pack, safe methods and procedure, storage, and resources. Dial gauge canners can be tested for accuracy for those who bring their lid.All registrations will be taken online at:
