State police at Lehighton are investigating a robbery and theft incident in Monroe County in which the victim was assaulted.

Troopers said the incident occurred at the JC Park along Molasses Valley Road in Eldred Township about 9:50 p.m. Monday, May 16.Troopers said Michael A. Claudio, 33, of Brodheadsville was approached by a black male who then punched him in the face. Claudio then fought with his assailant. Troopers said two other black males then arrived and attacked Claudio from behind and struck him with an unknown type object. The males then stole Claudio's wallet, which contained $400 in cash before fleeing.Troopers did not indicate if Claudio required medical attention.
