Jenna Stokes, daughter of Robert and the late Christine Stokes of Coaldale, graduated from medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) on Sunday.

Stokes attended high school at Panther Valley, graduating in 2003 as valedictorian and class president. She then completed her undergraduate degree at Gettysburg College, where she earned a bachelor of science in biochemistry and molecular biology, graduating summa cum laude.While in college, Stokes also earned recognition in Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Beta Kappa national honor societies and was selected as class speaker at her college graduation ceremony in 2007.While in medical school at PCOM, Jenna served as Genetics in Medicine Club vice president, PCOM Chapter secretary in the undergraduate American Academy of Osteopathy and summer intern for Bridging the Gaps. She was a member of the school's pathology club, the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians and the Pulmonic Choir, her medical school's musical ensemble.In addition, Jenna was selected for Sigma Sigma Phi Honor Society and was awarded the following scholarships during her time at PCOM: Loeb Scholarship, Hassman Family Scholarship, Jessie Young Memorial Scholarship, board of trustees Scholarship, Dr. Fredrick H. Barth Scholarship, Office Depot Scholarship, Class Gift Scholarship, First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association Scholarship and the Simmy Ginsburg Humanitarian Award.She will continue her residency training in Family Medicine at Altoona Regional Medical Center in Central Pa. Her future ambitions include establishing a rural practice, servicing the underserved and participating in medical mission trips to developing countries, such as Nicaragua, where she previously took part in multiple service projects.
