Tamaqua activities Sunday to benefit local ACS chapter

editor@tnonliine.comVolunteers with the Tamaqua-Carbon Chapter of the American Cancer Society will be hosting three multi-fundraiser and awareness events tomorrow in Tamaqua to help raise donations for Relay For Life and promote cancer awareness.In the first-ever photo-scavenger hunt, people of all ages can bring their digital cameras or cell phone cameras to take photos of scavenger-listed items in Tamaqua. Teams, consisting of 2 to 4 people, should meet at the Depot Square Park, Five Points, by 4 p.m.All scavenger items are within walking distance. Any team interested in participating is encouraged to simply show up or call Marsha Resch at (570) 778-8082 to register. Each team requires a registration fee.There will also be an ice cream social starting at 8 p.m. Guest singer Emily Zanzosky, 16, of Tamaqua will entertain guests as trophies are given.The annual "Light the Town Purple" event, in which the fountain is showered with purple lighting in memory of cancer victims and survivors, begins at 9 p.m.
