Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on three crashes investigated by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways recently.

A one-vehicle crash occurred about 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, along SR125, about a half mile north of Deep Creek Rd., in Hegins Township. Troopers said Tiffany Stehr, of Pitman, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier southbound and failed to negotiate a right curve. The car went onto the east berm and struck a large tree with the left front. The force of the impact caused the car to rotate counter-clockwise, trapping Stehr inside.Rescue personnel had to free her from the vehicle. She was then transported to the Hershey Medical Center. Damages were termed major to the car. The investigation into the crash is continuing.A deer and a vehicle collided about 5:18 a.m. on Sunday, May 22, along Red Dale Road, in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Keith M. Lewis, 65, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2007 Ford Explorer westbound when a deer ran onto the road in front of his vehicle. The Explorer struck the deer which caused front end damage requiring the vehicle to be towed. Lewis was not injured.A two-vehicle crash occurred about noon on Sunday along SR61 at the intersection with Beech Road in Deer Lake borough.Troopers said Larla C. Carmona, 31, of Marlton, N.J., was northbound in a 2007 Ford Mustang and approaching the intersection while Eugene J. Hummel, 79, of Auburn, operating a 2009 Toyota Tacoma truck, was on Beech Street stopped at a stop sign.Troopers said Hummel pulled out into the intersection where his truck was struck by the Mustang. After impact the Mustang traveled west across the center line and into the southbound lanes while spinning in a counter-clockwise direction. It came to rest facing north on the west berm. The Toyota spun about 40 degrees in a counter-clockwise direction and came to rest straddling the center line. No one was injured.Troopers said Hummel was cited for stop signs and yield signs.
