Vote count official: Motroni wins both nominations in Rush Township

Jeaninne Motroni not only won the Republican nomination for a six year term for supervisor in Rush Township on Primary Election day, but the official count completed this week at the courthouse in Pottsville, showed she also won the Democratic nomination by write-in votes. There were no Democrats on the ballot for the post.

Motroni's upset of incumbent, Stephen W. Simchak, who also was the chairman of the board, won the Republican nomination but also the Democratic nomination by garnering 90 write-in votes. Simchak came in second with 26 write-in votes. Matthew Stahlerand and William Boyer each got one write-in vote. Motroni's official vote count on the Republican ballot was 434 votes and Sinchak received 195 votes.There were no candidates on the ballot for Rush Township auditor and the nomination was won by William Boyer who received 130 write-in votes, according to the official count. Bob Pitts received 64 write-in votes and Dawn Hafer and Steven Bayer one write-in vote apiece.Pitts was the named Democrat candidate for the auditor seat and his official vote was 182. He will be opposed by Boyer in the general election in November. William Boyer received 67 Democratic write-in votes, George Pinkey, Robert D. Boyer and Steve Simchak each one write-in vote.Ryan TownshipFor Ryan Township Supervisor, David R. Morgan, whose name was on the Republican ballot won the nomination with 229 official votes. There were no write-ins.The Democrats had no candidate and failed to nominate one on a write-in vote.David R. Morgan received five write-in votes and Champ Holman, Frank Fetter and Mike Dunkin each received one write-in vote. David J. Kintz Jr., was on the ballot for auditor and received officially 214 votes. There were no write-in votes.No candidate ran on the Democratic ballot and Mary Peca was the only write-in candidate but received only two votes which did not qualify her to have name on the ballot for the general election.Schuylkill TownshipIn Schuylkill Township, for six year term for supervisor, Charles A. Hosler was the named candidate on the Republican ballot and won the nomination with 102 official votes. The Democrats had no candidate and Ron Novack received two write-in votes and Scott H. Stahler and William Alonge one apiece but not enough to win the nomination.Christine Verdier was the Republican candidate for the four year supervisor seat and officially received 107 votes. There were no write-ins. There was no Democratic candidate.Joseph Baisi received two write-in votes and Andrew Nicholas Waber and Joseph B. Bliickley one apiece but none qualified for the nomination.Walker TownshipIn Walker Township for supervisor, on the Republican ballot Craig Wagner was the candidate and officially received 165 botes. There were three write-ins.Leonard Ostergaard, Randall Bensinger and Robert Evely each received one write-in vote. There were no Democratic candidates on the ballot for supervisor and no write-in votes.There were no candidates for either party for the office of auditor. On the Republican ballot Debra Wagner, George Donnon, Timothy D. Stahl and Ton Jones each received one write-in vote but failed to qualify for the nomination. There were no Democratic write-ins.West Penn TownshipIn West Penn Township for supervisor on the Republican ballot James G. Dean, who officially received 304 votes, won the party the nomination over David A. Zeigler, who received 268 official votes. There was one write-in, Donald Ritschel who got one writein vote.There were no Democrat candidates and Zeigler won the Democratic nomination by received 22 write-in votes, Dean got seven and Steve Schickram received two write-in votes.For auditor, six year term, there were no candidates. Thomas Gibiser received 11 write-in votes and qualified for the Republican nomination. Dean Meiser, Delroy Haas, Larry Wittig, Ron Zeigler and Ted Bogash each received one write-in vote. On the Democratic ballot for six year auditor term Steven Schickream received two write-in votes and Jesse James one but none qualified for the nomination.For auditor, four year term, there were no candidates. On the Republican ballot Larry Dubetsky received eight write-in votes; Delroy Hass, three, and David Zeigler, Dena Meiser and Lisa Frederick, each received one write-in vote but none qualified for the nomination.On the Democratic ballot for auditor, four year term, Steven Schickram received two write-in votes and Frances Adams, one, but none qualified for the nomination.For auditor, two year term, there were no candidates. On the Republican ballot Delroy Haas received nine write-in votes, Joe Fritz three and Christine Lesisko, Dean Meiser, Francis Adams and Lisa Frederick, one each but none qualified for the nomination. On the Democratic ballot for two year auditor term, Steven Schickram received two write-in votes and Delory Haas and Lisa Frederick, each one but none qualified for the nomination.Blythe TownshipThere were no Republican candidates on the ballot for supervisor in Blythe Township but Albert Lubinsky, with 19 write-in votes, won the nomination. He was the Democratic candidate and received 109 official votes. He won both nominations.There were two write-in votes on the Democratic ballot, Gerald Fogarty received two and Jarod McClure, one. For auditor, there were no Republican candidate and no write-ins . Theresa A. Hinchey was the Democratic candidate and received officially 110 votes. There were no write-ins.Delano TownshipThere were no candidates for supervisor on the Republican ballot. Jay Ryan received five write-in votes, Daniel Pascavage two and Sheila Smith one, but none qualified for the nomination.On the Democratic ballot Jay Ryan appeared and he officially received 53 votes. There were two write-ins, John Wolfgang and Randy Derr each got one write-in vote. There were no candidates for auditor on the Republican ballot. Sharon Kurpatsky received two write-in votes and Nancy Derr and Scot Derr each one but none qualified for the nominatioln. Sharon Kurpatsky was the Democratic candidate and received 54 official votes. There were no write-ins.East Brunswick TownshipIn East Brunswick Township for supervisor there was a contest between Jeffrey Faust and Harold Frye, Jr., with Faust winning the party nomination with 123 official votes. Frye received 121 votes. There was one write-in for Robert S. Gamble.There were no candidates on the Democratic ballot for supervisor. Faust received nine write-in votes and Frye, three write-ins but neither qualified for the nomination.For the office of auditor, six year term, there were no candidates. On the Republican ballot Brian Rich, Daryl Fidler, David Gery, Denise Rautzhan, Karen Faust, Kevin Miller and Pauline Jones each received one write-in vote and none qualified. On the Democratic ballot Denise Rautzahn received three write-in votes and Joanne Spehrley, one and neither qualified. For auditor, four year term, on the Republican ballot David Gery, Julie Tidmore, Karen Faust, Roy Heim and Karen Faust each received one write-in vote and none qualified. For auditor, two year term, on the Republican ballot, Karen Faust received one write-in vote. There were no Democratic write-ins.Kline TownshipIn Kline Township for supervisor on the Republican ballot there was a contest between Nicholas Sanko and Linda Deganich with Sanko winning the nomination with 118 official votes. Deganich received 114 official votes. There were three write-ins, Eugene Moisey received two and Ralph Giranda, one.On the Democratic ballot for supervisor, Eugene Moisey was the lone candidate and received 97 official votes. There were 20 write-in votes with Nick Sanko receiving 10 , Linda Deganich, eight and Linda Johnson, two.For auditor, six year term, the candidate on the Republican ballot was Mauro Notaro who received 43 official votes. There were four write-in votes, Gary Kringer, Mauro Cabell, Peter M. Notaro and Suzanne Fenkner, each received one. For auditor, four year term, there were no candidates on the Republican ballot but there were six write-in votes but none qualified for the nomination. Notaro received four votes and Anthony Befano and Justin Eroh one each.For auditor, two year term, on the Republican ballot Notaro was the winner by write-in vote receiving 11 votes. Gary Kringer, John Wilcko and Suzanne Fenkner each received one. On the Democratic ballot for the two year auditor term, there was no candidate. Notaro received three votes but not enough to qualify for the nomination and Edward Mega and Nick Sanko each received one.TamaquaIn Tamaqua borough for council, the Republicans had four candidates and all won nomination, Kenenth A. Smulligan, 513 official votes; Brian Connely, 477; Thomas Cara, 423 and Stephen Tertel, 350. There were 20 write-in votes but not came close in upsetting anyone whose name appeared on the ballot. Matt Yeager received two write-in votes and Bill Willing, Dan Riegel, Ed Morgan, Gus Konstas, John Brobst Jr., Justin Stephens, Larry Bower, Mark Bower, Matt Coccio, Matthew L.Hill, Michael Polyak, Patricia Stephanik, Paul Hertig, R. Dan Evans, Raymond Sell, Richard Hadesty, Robert B. Derr and Robert D. Evans, one write-in vote apiece.There were no Democratic candidates for council and although there were 17 write-in votes no one qualified for the nomination. Bran Connelly receved three write-in votes and Ann Tracy, Cathy Miorelli, Ed Johnson, Ernie Shilko Sr., Kenneth A. Smulligan, Kevin Shinn, Michael Hartz, Michaelene Trubilla, Mike Breiner, Mike Poliak, Pat Stefanek, Stephen Tertel, Thomas Hartz and Tracy A. Perry, one write-in apiece.For auditor, Richard Hadesty Jr., was the lone Republican candidate and officially received 574 votes. There was no Democratic candidate but five write-ins with Hadestry obtaining two write-in votes and Ann Tracy, Betsy Melnick and Dave Yelito, one write-in apiece but none received a sufficent number of votes to win the Democratic nomination.CoaldaleFor council on the Republican ballot the four named candidates won the nomination, Nancy Lorchak, 170 official votes, Michael J. Doerr, 148, Steve Tentylo 140 and Thomas Keerans Sr., 131. Andrew E. Girard was on the ballot but finished out of the running getting 111 official votes. There were 21 write-in votes but none were able to overcome the named candidates. Paul Coppie received 17 write-ins, Dave Priblla, nine; Craig Flysik and Richard Marek, each two; and Claire Remington, Francie Boyle, Harold Dusty, Harry Murphy, Jane Doe, Jessica Kutza, John Hill Jr., John Hill Sr., Mark Henne, Michael Celentano, Richard Corkery, Sam Jones, Susan Solt, Ted Bortnick, Thoms Polischak, Tim Delaney and Willam Longworth, one each.There were three candidates for council on the Democratic ballot, Paul F. Coppie received 84 official votes, Michael J. Doerr and Nancy Lorchak, each 10. There were 26 write-in votes but none qualified for the nomination. Dave Pribilla received eight write-in votes, Richard Marek, Steve Tentelo and Thomas Keerans, each two and Andrew Girard, Andy Mikolay, August Gulla, Bernice Moser, Bob Melloy, Claire Remmington, Harry Murphy, John Hill, Juel Gallagher, Michael Celentano, Thomas Polischak and Tom Sullivan, each one.McAdooIn McAdoo for council on the Republican ballot there were six candidates with four to be nominated. Those nominated were Mary A. Labert, 166 official votes; William J. Slovik, 141; John A. Perhonitch, 129 and Lisa A. Klemas, 107. Not winning the nod were Edward J. Bielen Sr., 303 votes and Daniel G. Gorchick, 79 votes. There were 35 write-in votes but none qualified. Daniel G. Gorchick received 79, Maron Debalko and Marla Furlani, each five, Rose Ann Lutz, three; Rick Snyder, John Simmons and Mark Liszka, each two and Christopher Miccolupi, James Walck, Justin Debalko and Robert Minnick, one each.The four candidates on the Democratic ballot were unopposed and won the nomination. Marian Debalko received 181 official votes, Rose Ann Lutz 174, Rick Snyder 166 and Marla S. Furlani 165. There were 47 write-in votes but none qualified for the nomination. Mary Labert received 19 write-ins, John Perhonitch, 10; William Slovick, nine; Brian Kolbush, Daniel; Borchick and Lisa Klemas, two each and Andrew Ulichny, Clara Preputnick and Edward Fritz, one each.MiddleportIn Middleport for council on the Republican ballot Thomas J. Vrabel Jr., was unopposed and received 22 official votes. There were 18 write-ins but none beat Vrabel. They were, Elizabeth McClure, seven write-ins, John DiFlippo, five; Leo Oswald, two and David Petrush, John Sadusky, Paul Pilconis and Tom Vrabe III, one each.On the Democratic ballot for council, with two to be nominated, Leo J. Oswald, the lone name listed received 35 official ballots and Elizabeth McClure won the nomination with 29 write-ins, nosing out John DiFlippio who received 26 and Paul F. Pilconis, 24. Bethann McClure received one writein vote.New RinggoldIn New Ringgold for council on the Republican ballot the two named won the nomination, Elizabeth Blaker Fry and Elena Hendricks each received 24 official votes. There were 24 write-in votes but none beat the nominees. James Swope received nine writein votes, Larry Padora, six; and Carl Grube, Denice Frederick, Gary Hess, Harvey Bachert, Jeff Long, Joe Caracappa, Ralph Seltzer, Roger Freed and Walter Hill, one each.On the Democratic ballot there were no candidates for council. There were18 write-ins but none qualified for the nomination. Elena Hendricks received eight, James Swope, seven; Denice Frederick, two and William Weand, one each.New PhiladelphiaIn New Philadelpha for council on the Republican ballot there were no candidates listed. There nine write-in votes but none qualified for the nomination. Mary Shanoskie received three, Edward Slane and Hunter Rulavage, two each, and Ed Braukus and Jeff Drum, one each.On the Democratic ballot for council the three named candidates were the nominees, Mary L. Shanoskie, 147 official votes; Edward J. Slane, 128 and Debra Smith-Sullivan, 90. There were six write-ins but none qualified. Edward Stutz and Tim McNavage, each two and Jim McDonald and Joan Pretti, one each.
