Learn the basics of home canning

The Penn State Extension in Carbon and Monroe counties is offering a workshop for beginning canners who want to learn how to use a pressure canner. The workshop, titled "Yes I Can," will be held from 12:30-3:30 p.m., on July 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Third and Iron streets, Lehighton.

"Yes I Can" is an introductory workshop providing today's recommendations on how to safely can seasonal garden produce and specialty items. It includes cost, equipment, how to use a pressure canner and boiling water bath canner, types of pack, safe methods and procedure, storage, and resources. Dial gauge canners can be tested for accuracy for those who bring their lid.All registrations will be taken online at:
