First Steps

First Steps, a support group for mothers, will have its monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 1, at the Primitive Methodist Church, 55 Hunter St., Tamaqua. The meeting will be held in the church social room from 6:30-7:30 p.m.Participants will learn how to make fabric wreaths.The sessions are free and open to the public. firststepmom@msn.com.Fair guidesState Rep. Jerry Knowles is making free copies of the 2011 Pennsylvania Fair Guide available to his constituents. The guide lists the dates, locations and contact numbers for more than 100 agricultural fairs/events scheduled for this summer and fall.The state Department of Agriculture also hosts the annual Pennsylvania State Farm Show, the largest indoor agricultural exhibition in the country. The Trevorrow Scholarships will also be awarded.BloodmobileAn American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be held May 25 in Tamaqua. St. John United Church of Christ, Pine and Biddle streets, will serve as the collection site. Hours will be from 1-6 p.m.Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood. Each unit of donated blood has the potential to help save three lives. Donor cards or proper identification will be required.Donors may make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS.This visit is being sponsored by the Broad Street Deli.Class of 1960The Tamaqua High School Class of 1960 will meet May 22, at 2 p.m., at the home of Paul Miller in Hometown.
