Lions to meetThe last regularly-scheduled meeting of the Summit Hill Lions Club will be held on Tuesday, May 24, at 6 p.m. at the Parkview Inn. Dr. Kenneth Vermillion, president, will be in charge of the session.The guests for the evening will be the club's 2011 scholarship winners and their families. The guest speaker for the evening will be Jeanne Miller from Lehigh-Carbon Community College.St. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Richard W. Spengler, a retired pastor from Macungie, will be the guest at the worship service of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Palmerton, on Sunday, May 22. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m.A Memorial Day service will be held on Sunday, May 29, with patriotic hymns and prayers to remember our fallen heroes and honor our veterans and servicemen. The Rev. Carl G. Schweitzer will officiate at the service.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in the community on a monthly basis. Distributions are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of each month.The Summit Hill Lions Club members assist with the packaging and distributions of the food boxes.Anyone wanting information about the pantry, or knowing someone who could use assistance, can contact Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604 or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.Methodist ChargeThe service schedule for the Coaldale/Summit Hill United Methodist Charge for Sunday, May 22, is as follows:Worship services will be held at 9 a.m. in the Summit Hill United Methodist Church and at 11 a.m. in the Coaldale United Methodist Church.The Rev. Burgess Gordon will officiate at both services.The adult Sunday school will meet at 9:45 a.m. in the Coaldale church.LansfordCommittee needsThe Lansford Improvement Committee is accepting unwanted household items, toys, electronics and furniture for its upcoming rummage sale. The rummage items can be dropped off at the Lansford Ambulance Hall every Saturday from 1-3 p.m. throughout May.The committee is a nonprofit organization that holds free events for the children of the community throughout the year. It depends on the vital support of the community.CoaldaleNeighborhood watchCoaldale residents are invited to a Neighborhood Watch meeting at borough hall at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 25.Memorial Day ChoirRehearsal for the Coaldale Memorial Day Choir will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at First Congregational Church, Ruddle Street.Everyone is welcome join the choir in honoring our country's service personnel and veterans.The choir will sing at a special Memorial Day service at First Congregational Church at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 29.
