Overeaters Anonymous meets in Lehighton

As the summer season approaches, resolutions to diet and exercise and finally lose that winter weight are not easy to abide when you are battling habitual eating.

For those who try to stave off a food addiction, any resolution may mean vowing to overcome this powerful and often misunderstood compulsion to eat.There is help. For individuals struggling with various issues with food, Overeaters Anonymous (OA) can provide guidance and support.OA offers a 12-step program that addresses emotional, physical and spiritual well-being as a path to recovery.OA's members are given the tools to seek and find recovery from compulsive eating behaviors.Recently, a local OA group formed in Lehighton. It meets each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room at All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 North 2nd St. (corner of Coal and Second streets). All are welcome. There are no dues or fees.Overeaters Anonymous was founded in 1960 in Los Angeles, Calif. Fifty years later, OA is a worldwide fellowship that has found a solution to the problems arising from overeating.There are more than 6,500 meeting groups in approximately 75 countries.
