Bail in amount of $5,000 percentage cash was fixed by Judge John E. Domalakes for Robert J. Macharsky, Jr., 37, of 201 East Bertsch Street, Lansford, and a bench warrant issued on him was dissolved. Marcharsky faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his operating privileges were suspended by Patrolman Charles Blesse, Coaldale Police and charges of resisting arrest and giving false identification to Patrolman Brian Thompson, Rush Township Police.Allen Frank Martell, 24, Minersville, had bail set at $25,000 percentage cash by Judge Charles M. Miller. He faces charges of burglary of a private home, criminal trespass and criminal mischief cited by Patrolman Richard C. Clink, Minersville Police.Marco Baker, 25, West Hazleton, had his petition to modify bail denied by Judge Miller. He faces a charge of alleged fleeing police.Matthew T. Edmonds, 21, of 248 East Patterson Street, Lansford, had his bail set by Judge Miller at $15,000 percentage cash and fixed certain conditions. He must live at the Lansford address and cannot relocated without written permission from District Attorney James P. Richard Weaver, Tamaqua Police, with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of communication facility and possession of a controlled substance.SentencedPaul Jeffrey Vernitsky, 42, Shenandoah, who was found guilty by Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin of a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol following a non-jury trial was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison with the sentence to begin Friday, May 6, at 9 a.m.He also must pay a fine of $1,000, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, when released on parole to pay a $50 a month supervision fee and attend alcohol highway safe driving school. His driver's license is suspended 12 months. The case will be scheduled for trial. Williams was cited by Mahanoy City Patrolman Christopher Zuber, on July 2, 2009.Weapon theftKyle Andrew Rockwell, 23, Hegins, pleaded guilty to carrying a firearm without a license, receiving a stolen firearm, resisting arrest and loitering and prowling at night and was sentenced by Judge Domalakes to serve 27 days to 23 1/2 months in the county prison. Since he served the minimum time was released and placed on parole.He also must pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account and pay a $50 monthly supervision fee for each month on probation.
