Graduating with double major

2007 Jim Thorpe Area High School graduate Sierra Fogal will graduate from the Martin J Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University this spring, with a double major in marketing and entrepreneurship, and a minor in public communications.

Fogal will be honored as a Whitman Scholar at a banquet before graduation. 6 Whitman Scholars are chosen from the graduating class of 300 each year. Candidates for the honor must have a cumulative grade point average of over 3.5, and exhibit qualities of service, leadership, and character throughout their years at Syracuse.Fogal has been an active member of Syracuse's Students in Free Enterprise club, serving as Guatemalan project leader, president elect and president of the 100 member organization, which placed second in national competition last year. She has also been part of the University 100, a select group of 100 students who act as ambassadors to prospective students and lead tours of the campus, and intramural volleyball and basketball.This summer Fogal will head off to Kigali, Rwanda, to take a position with the Rwandan Ministry of Agriculture, where she will help improve the business practices of 50 Rwandan Entrepreneurs.She is the daughter of Paul and Cleo Fogal of Jim Thorpe.
