A New York state resident was sentenced to a state prison term this week in Carbon County court.

Postell Raheem Goggans, 45, of 868 Park Avenue 4E, Brooklyn, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve 30 to 60 months in prison. Goggans was sentenced immediately after he entered a guilty plea to one count of criminal conspiracy-possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-crack cocaine.Goggans was arrested in August 2008 following a four month investigation by the state Attorney General's office. He was arrested on in the area of 55 Main Road in Franklin Township by agents of the AG's office.Terrence Edward Davis, 24, of 6626 Kent St., New York, was arrested with Goggans.Goggans and Davis were both charged with dealing crack cocaine in Carbon County. Following their arrest, police conducted a search of Goggans' vehicle, a 1992 Mercedes-Benz. Found in it was 66 grams of crack cocaine.In exchange for the guilty plea, charges of possession with intent to deliver and possession were dropped.Goggans was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and supply a DNA sample and pay the $250 fee. He was given credit for 488 days spent in jail on the charges.Davis pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance-cocaine, on Feb. 19, 2009, and was placed on probation for six months.
