Students at St. John Neumann Regional School will soon have a platform to showcase their artistic wares.

The school will hold its annual art show on May 3 at its Palmerton campus. Artwork will be on display from students from both the Palmerton and Slatington campus.Also at that time, representatives from Chrysler and Rentschler Chevrolet will join with parents and teachers for a Drive for the Kids fundraiser in support of the school.Parents and guests can earn a $10 contribution for the school from Chrysler when they take a brief test drive in the company's award winning minivan, the Chrysler Town & Country.Any licensed driver, age 18 or over, may drive and earn $10 for St. John Neumann Regional School. Driving times are from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.Rentschler Chevrolet will provide minivans and insurance for the event, and volunteers from the dealership will be on hand to help out with the fundraising test drives."The Art Show and Drive for Kids will be fun for the whole family," said Sherry Smith, administrative assistant."And we are pleased to have this opportunity from Chrysler to push our fundraising goal over the top," said Mary Lou Duffy, secretary of the Slatington campus.The school is holding a coloring contest for the students this week, and will award a pizza party to the grade at each campus that has the highest percentage of drivers participate.In 1993, Chrysler introduced Drive for the Kids and became the first automotive manufacturer to directly support schools in the communities where the company does business.Since then, dealers like Rentschler Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge in Slatington have worked with parents in communities across the country, and Chrysler has contributed over $3.5 million to local schools.
