A Megan's Law violator was arrested on Monday by U.S. Marshals Service in Carbon County.

Donald Osgood, 32, of Lansford, and originally from Milford, Del., was taken into custody for violating the conditions of the law.On July 27, 1998, Osgood was convicted of unlawful sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl in Delaware, an offense that required him to register as a convicted sex offender. On April 12 the Delaware State Police issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to update his sex offender registration information in that state.The U.S. Marshals Service in Delaware learned that Osgood may have moved to Lansford. Deputy U.S. Marshals from the Scranton office investigated and learned that he was residing in the 300 block of E. Abbott Street.Monday the marshals arrested Osgood at his home without incident. He was taken before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek, of Lansford, and then committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning in lieu of $100,000 bail.The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006 designates the U.S. Marshals Service as the federal agency responsible for assisting state and local police agencies locate and arrest sex offenders who fail to update their required Megan's Law information or flee to avoid those requirements.
