Blood driveSt. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a bloodmobile for the Miller-Keystone Blood Center on Wednesday, April 20, from 2-7 p.m. in the church hall. A goal of 35 pints has been established.Miller-Keystone Blood Center is the only blood supplier to our local hospitals (Blue Mountain Health System, Lehighton and Palmerton, and St. Luke's Hospital and Health Network (Miner's Memorial, Coaldale).Persons planning to donate are asked to reserve a donor time by calling the parish office, (570) 645-2664. Walk-in donors are also always accepted.Cell phone driveThe Summit Hill Lions Club is conducting a used/old cell phone drive in conjunction with the annual Earth Day observance.The club will collect the used phones, which will be recycled and sold, the purchase price to be used to benefit the Summit Hill Food Pantry.As a convenience to donors, the Lions Club has set up cell phone depository boxes at the following locations: the Summit Hill branch of First Niagara Bank; Northeast Chemical and Supply Co., Lansford; Vermillion's Dental Clinic, Summit Hill; the Tamaqua Area Elementary School; and Hiles Brothers Plumbing & Heating. Donors are asked to make sure the telephone service of the phone is inactivated before they are dropped off. Also, SIM cards and accessories are not necessary.For more information, contact Lions Club member Janel Tirpak, (570) 645-7850.St. Katharine DrexelSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, has announced its schedule of Easter services as follows:Friday, April 15 - Living Stations will be presented at 7 p.m. All children of the parish are invited to participate.Palm Sunday, April 17 - regular Mass schedule will be followed.Holy Thursday, April 21 - a Mass of the Lord's Supper and Washing of the Feet will be held at 7 p.m.Good Friday, April 22 - Liturgy of the Passion will be held at 3 p.m.Holy Saturday, April 23 - blessing of the Easter baskets will take place at noon. The Easter vigil will be held that night at 8 o'clock.Easter Sunday, April 24 - Masses at 8 and 10:30 a.m.Easter egg huntSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will hold its annual Easter egg hunt on Sunday, April 17, beginning at noon in the parking lots behind the church. A brunch will be held after the hunt in the church hall.Parish youths ages birth to 10 are invited to attend and must be accompanied by an adult. To register, call the parish office, (570) 645-2282.
