That's when BenefitsCheckUp will be on hand at the Village at Palmerton starting at 2:30 p.m. Interested parties must RSVP to save a place by April 5.Fast, free and completely confidential, BenefitsCheckUP searches for programs that help pay for prescription drugs, heating bills, housing/rent, meal programs, legal services, medical costs, in-home services, tax relief, veteran's benefits, employment, volunteer opportunities and helpful information and resources.A specially-trained volunteer can help determine whether individuals may be eligible for federal, state, and local benefit programs.Jennifer Ebert, admissions & marketing director, said the benefit services the organization provides is not well known throughout the community."A lot of people do not know about the program that is there," Ebert said. "It helps people find additional benefits, and helps them save money, offset costs."Ebert said the volunteers will "ask for minimal information just to see where the person stands to help them make a game plan to help them get in a better situation.""There's a lot of people that don't have people to turn to," she said.
