Catholic Schools Week will be celebrated from Jan. 30 to Feb. 5 by Our Lady of the Valley School, Lansford, which serves the communities of Summit Hill, Lansford, Nesquehoning and Coaldale. The event will begin with Parishioner Appreciation Day on Sunday, Jan. 30, which will include an open house program from noon to 2 p.m. at the school. Additional information about CSW will be announced in this column at a later date.OLOAA registrationsOur Lady of the Angels Academy, Lansford, will be accepting registrations for the 2011-12 school year during an open house program on Sunday, Jan. 30, from noon to 2 p.m., and Monday through Friday, Jan. 31 to Feb. 4, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Other arrangements can be made to register a child by calling (570) 645-7170 or 645-7101.Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old by Oct. 15 following the September when they will enter school. First graders much be 6 years old by the same dates.Parents registering their children will be required to bring the child's birth and baptismal certificates, immunization records and a registration fee.LansfordHOPE seeks helpHOPE (Helping Older Parishioners Earnestly), an organization started at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, is seeking volunteers. Patterson St.Thursday, Jan. 27 Parks & Recreation Committee, 6:30 p.m., and Community Development, Planning, Zoning & Ordinance Committee, 7:15 p.m., both in the community center, Ridge Street.Summit HillAnthracite LLThe Anthracite Little League (Summit Hill/Nesquehoning) will hold registration sessions at both the Summit Hill and Nesquehoning borough buildings on the following dates: Saturdays, Feb. 12 and 19 and March 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.The league will hold a reorganizational meeting on Thursday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Nesquehoning Borough Building.
