Palmerton students honored

Two Palmerton High School student musicians have been honored for their musical accomplishments by the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA).

Junior Lydia Anthony was selected to participate in the PMEA District 10 Chorus this week at Easton High School as a result of auditions in October. Lydia will sing Alto I in the 225-member chorus featuring the best singers from Pike, Monroe, Northampton, Lehigh, Berks, Schuylkill, and Carbon Counties. Concerts will be Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Lydia is the daughter of Christopher and Sheri Anthony of Palmerton.Senior Billy Heinick was selected for the second consecutive year to play trombone in the PMEA District 10 Band, which will be held at Tulpehocken High School in Berks County February 10-12. Instrumental auditions were held in early December, and approximately 900 students from the same seven counties auditioned for the select band and orchestra. Billy plans to majorin Music Production Technology next year, and is the son of Thomas and Marcia Heinick of Towamensing Township.
