The weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has changed to Wednesday nights at 7 o'clock in the parish rectory. Participants will be examining the changes to the Liturgy due to the incorporation of the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal (English Translation) on the First Sunday of Advent (Nov. 26-27). There will be a cursory look at these changes during Mass beginning in mid-October.
St. Paul Lutheran
St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, holds its Sunday Church School classes on Sundays at 9 a.m. The classes are non-denominational and all children ages 4 and older, regardless of religious affiliation, are welcome to attend. In addition to learning about the people of the Bible, the children are encouraged to reflect God's love through kindness and acceptance in their daily lives. Crafts are a part of each class and activities are planned throughout the year and for holidays. Several teachers rotate throughout the year, which provides variety to the lessons. On Sunday, Sept. 18, the worship service will be officiated by the Rev. John J. Deisinger, a retired pastor from Allentown. It will begin at 10:30 a.m.
The Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, will return to its regular hours of worship and Sunday school beginning Sunday, Sept. 18. The worship service will return to the starting time of 10:30 a.m. The Sunday school meetings will begin that day at 9:15 a.m. A fellowship time is observed following the services.
The Rev. Frederick Rodgers is the pastor. Communion is observed on the first Sunday of each month.
AMVETS to meet
The Lansford AMVETS Post 83 will meet at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 18 at the post home. Perry Shelton, commander, will be in charge of the meeting.
A meeting of the Home Association will be held immediately after the post meeting.
A bereavement group at St. Francis of Assisi in Nesquehoning is forming for anyone struggling with the grief in the loss of a loved one, regardless if the loss is recent or happened a long time ago.
The Fall Session Bereavement Group will begin Monday, Sept. 19 and will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. each Monday for a period of six weeks. The group will meet in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Spiritual Library, 15 East Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning. The meetings are strictly confidential. Anyone is welcome and does not have to be a member of the parish.

The meeting of the Nesquehoning Crime Watch will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in the Nesquehoning Borough Hall on West Catawissa Street.
The Coaldale TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) chapter meets every Wednesday in the education room at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale. Weekly meetings begin at 5:45 p.m. with weigh-ins followed by a short informational program beginning at 6 p.m.
