Lake Harmony home destroyed

A fast moving fire destroyed a Kidder Township home late Thursday night. The fire was first reported at 9:30 p.m. at 43 Crest Drive in Lake Harmony. Firefighters responding to the scene reported seeing the flames on the far side of Lake Harmony. When fire crews arrived on scene they found heavy flames and smoke shooting from the ranch style home but were also confronted with live electrical wires which several firemen described as a "large fireworks show." Lake Harmony Fire Chief Ralph Lennon said a state police fire marshall will assist in the investigation. Responding were fire companies from Lake Harmony, Kidder Township, Albrightsville, Weatherly, Tobyhanna, Tunkhannock, Jim Thorpe, and Penn Forest Fire Company No. 2. The house reportedly is a vacation home and was not occupied when the fire occurred.
