Driver facing DUI after accident

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one- vehicle crash that occurred about 11 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, along SR924 near Herald Road, in Shenandoah.

State police at Frackville said Roger A. Weikel, 55, of Shenandoah, was southbound when his 1996 Ford Ranger pickup truck left the road and struck a guide rail before a bridge.After impact the truck traveled back onto the road and became disabled.Weikel was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was transported to the barracks for a breath test which revealed he was over the legal limit of .08 percent. He will be charged.Damages to the truck were termed moderate to the front and passenger side.
