Towamensing jumped out to an early 5-0 first inning lead en route to a 10-0 shutout of Tamaqua White in the Panther Valley 9-10 year old Little League tournament Thursday night at Towamensing.

Matthew Binder went three for three, with two doubles and 3 RBI's to lead the winners. Aaron Stasko also had two doubles and scored two runs while Owen Reis and Brody Boehler each added two hits for Towamensing.Winning pitcher Reis struck out three and allowed only one hit and Eric Nothstein also struck out three in one inning of work.Towamensing will play Lansford as the tournament continues this Saturday.Franklin Twp-WeatherlyFranklin Township defeated Weatherly 16-3 in the PV 9-10 Little League Tournament. Franklin also defeated Tamaqua White 15-3, Anthracite 16-0 and Jim Thorpe Red 16-0 in other action.Luke David had three singles,Justin Ahner one single and one inside the park homerun, Zachary Crum also had one single, one inside the park homerun and had four strikeouts.On Saturday, Franklin hosts Jim Thorpe Blue in a battle of unbeatens.
