The Anthracite Little League will hold election of officers for the 2012 Little League season at a meeting scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Summit Hill Borough Building. Any and all parents of league participants, as well as members of the community, are encouraged to attend.

St. Paul Lutheran
Members of the congregation of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, are reminded the starting time for weekly worship services has been changed to 10:30 a.m., effective this Sunday, Sept. 4.
The Rev. Roy H. Koehler will preside at this weekend's service.
The weekly scripture sharing program at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has been moved to Wednesday nights at 7 o'clock in the rectory, beginning Sept. 7.
Participants will be examining the changes to the liturgy due to the incorporation of the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal (English Translation) on the First Sunday of Advent (Nov. 26-27).
Registration for the upcoming CCD program for public school students of the Catholic parishes of the Panther Valley (grades 1-8) will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to noon in St. Joseph Church, Summit Hill; and on Sunday, Sept. 18, from 8 a.m. to noon in St. Katharine Drexel Church, Lansford. Parents are reminded to enroll their child(ren) on these dates in order to avoid a late registration fee.
The classes will begin Sunday, Sept. 25.
The Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food boxes to eligible families in town on a monthly basis. Deliveries are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 10 a.m. and noon.

Hope of Christ
The worship service for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, Sept. 4, will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Rogers officiating. Holy Communion will be observed.
There will be Pinochle card games every Wednesday evening at the St. Ann's Senior Apartments, 30 E. Bertsch St., Lansford.
Participants will play eight games from 7-9:15 p.m. Snacks will be offered, and everyone is invited.
One does not have to be a senior citizen to play Pinochle.
Fifty members enjoyed an indoor picnic and combined birthday celebration at the Aug. 22 Panther Valley Golden Age meeting. Alex Shereba sang the Byzantine birthday wish. Ruth Ann Feane led the group singing summer songs. Norma Lee Burke read an inspirational message "God's Dream Comes True."
Everyone enjoyed the day with 31 staying to play bingo.
Next meeting will be held Monday, Sept. 12 at St. Joseph's Hall, Summit Hill, beginning at 1 p.m.
The next meeting of the Nesquehoning Conservation Club will take place at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7 at MapleShade Meadows Assisted Living Center in Nesquehoning. Members are reminded to bring their Redner's Save-A-Tapes to the meeting.
Girl Scout registration
The Nesquehoning Girl Scouts will hold registration on Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at the Methodist Church on West Catawissa Street in town.

The Nesquehoning Woman's Club will hold its Opening Dinner at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 12 at the Beacon 443 Restaurant in Lehighton. For reservations call Ginny Novy at (570) 669-9321. There will be a choice of an entrée.
On Wednesday at 7 p.m. St. John's Lutheran Church, 1 E. Abbott St., Lansford, will hold an informal worship: a spiritual, peaceful evening service with Holy Communion. All are welcome to this relaxed, brief musical evening prayer. For those who wish to come early, a free simple supper is served at 6 p.m., followed by a brief Bible study and children's program at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call the Rev.
